Report #3 – Last Days at Chimala

Hello there! The first part of our trip has come to an end. In the past few days, we have had a lot of great opportunities afforded to us. Personally, I was asked to teach a short course on “Christian Ethics” at the Chimala School of Preaching. The classes were 6 hours a day for two days, and since most of the students spoke Swahili, there weren’t many options for engendering discussion. Fortunately, the students were very engaged and seemed excited to learn. After classes, I was able to spend some time with the English speaking teachers there and thoroughly enjoyed the encouragement we all received from our time together. It was sad to leave them, but we’re now on our way to Madagascar for more work! – Gif

From Perry Baker:

We started every day with devo at 7:30 in the shop compound singing, praying and I was asked to deliver a message. Some of the workers are not members of the Lord’s body but come each morning to listen to the lessons and they also attend Sunday worship which is encouraging. We then had the opportunity to take a trip up the Ailsa Mountain bringing the tractor and planter and material for three projects! For my first time I am very impressed with the work. I know Howell and Nathans goal is to have the mission self-sufficient. Nathan is a very hard worker and from my view point the workers respect him. Everyone has their various jobs appear to work hard at it. I have been bless working alongside these men.

From Avery Hackney:

Over the past few days in Chimala I have been blessed with the opportunity of teaching two short courses in the secondary school. The first was an introduction the the Gospel of Luke and the Second was an overview of Israel’s exodus from Egypt. I was very impressed with the children’s dedication to knowledge and their interest in the Bible. Each day after teaching I was able to attend the teachers morning tea and discuss the current and future state of the school. I am pleased to say, I believe God will be blessing those young people for years to come with the aid of a dedicated and God centered teaching staff.
