About Pavel Nicholaevich
Pavel Nicholaevich was born in Krivoy Rog (located in the Dnepropetrovsk Region). When he was very young, he moved away to Makeyevka (Donetsk Oblast) for a few years before moving back to Krivy Rog where he finished schooling and entered Technical School to become a welder. After he graduated from the Technical School and worked as a welder for more than 10 years. While he was in the technical school he met Katherina Skoleba whom he married. Her father, Ivan Skoleba, preached in Kiev at the time. Ivan introduced him to the Lord’s church and encouraged him to follow Christ.
In 2012, Pavel left Krivy Rog and moved to Ivano-Frankivsk. While attending assemblies he made the decision to repent of his sins and be baptized. During his time in Ivano-Frankivsk, Pavel grew in his appreciation and dedication to the Lord’s Word. Ivan suggested that he should go to the Bible School in Gorlovka, and Pavel started his studies at the School. He completed his studies in 2014 and graduated from the Bible School with a Bachelor Degree and moved back to Ivano-Frankivsk where he became very involved in the benevolent work and evangelism of the local congregation.
After working with the congregaiton for several months, a need arose for a preacher in Krivy Rog (Dnepopetrovsk Oblast). Since this was his “home city” Pavel became very interested in going there and preaching and working with the local congregation. He has been working there since 2014., Ukraine.
About the Work in Krivy Rog
The city of Krivoy Rog
Krivoy Rog (Kryvyi Rih) Ukraine is a city in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and is the 8th most populous city in Ukraine with over 650,000 inhabitants (2013). It lies within a large urban area, administratively, incorporated with Kryvyi Rih Municipality as a city of regional significance. Kryvyi Rih has been a major settlement for most of its history, going back to its founding as a postal city in 1775 by the Cossaks. A military settlement until 1860, it was part of Kherson, although it was incorporated during the 20th century with areas of Yekaterinoslav. Today Kryvyi Rih is arguably the main steel industry city of Eastern Europe, being a large globally important centre of the iron-ore mining and metallurgy region.
Beginning of the work
The Church in Krivoy Rog has been around since the fall of communism when the Lord’s church first went into the area with evangelistic campaigns. However, after the church was established it encountered many of the similar problems around the country because of heavy orthodox influences. There remained several Christian families there but the congregation had dwindled down because of the lack of spiritual food and support for the young Christians. Pavel’s arrival has sparked renewed dedication and revival. The benevolent efforts of the local congregation has allowed it to gain more recognition and appreciation among the community.
Oversight by Dalraida
In 2014, Dalraida became the overseeing congregation for the work done by Pavel Nicholaevich in Krivoy Rog. The work began as an evangelistic misison of the Ivano-Frankivsk congregation who wanted to send Pavel to the area in a full-time capacity. Dalraida oversees the funds and helps the young congregaiton it its work.
